History behind the IIMs

Government of India has set up six Indian Institutes of Management at Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Calcutta, Lucknow, Indore and Kozhikode. These institutes are fully funded and controlled by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Secondary and Higher Education. These six IIMs mainly conduct two-year courses in Post Graduate Diploma in Management which is equivalent of MBA and Fellowship Programme in Management which is equivalent to Ph.D. In the fraternity of IIMs the two IIMs at Indore and Kozhikode were established by the Government of India in the 1997. These institutes are still in the project mode and the construction activities of the campus are in full swing. While IIM Indore is presently functioning from the building of the Government Women Polytechnic College at Indore, IIM Kozhikode is currently functioning from the building of REC, Calicut.

dude..iam afraid uve misrepresented the facts here...IIM Kozhikode was started in 96 (and not 97) and used to be at the REC, Calicut Campus till 2002...since then it has its own campus on a hilltop, which happens to be one of the most modern and picturesque campuses in the country...go to the website for more detials www.iimk.ac.in and verdance.blogspot.com for pics of the campus...

I second that .., in case of IIM Indore too. Its been already three years (2003) that IIMI has shifted to its permanent base - an architectural treat on a scenic hill. Besides visiting the websites www.iimidr.ac.in & http://www.flickr.com/photos/third_i/ you can visit the campus to enjoy the treat.
