IIMs set new rules for applicants

The Indian Institutes of Management or IIMs have announced new qualifying rules to reduce the number of applicants. Applicants will need at least 50 per cent marks in their graduation to qualify for the Common Admission Test, under the new procedures.And, those in the SC or ST categories should show at least 45 per cent marks.The new rules apply for Common Admission Test to be held in November.The duration of the tests have been increase by 30 minutes to two-and-a-half hours and there will be substantial need-based scholarships for economically disadvantaged students.The IIMs said information about reservation of seats for members of the OBC category would be listed on their websites, and national newspapers soon.
